NEW POSTAGE AND PACKING COSTS
Delivery costs for scythes are high, because of the length of the snath and the size of the box. Our APC depot is now under new management and the fees for delivering a standard scythe set increased in May 2025 by a whopping 74%. As a result we can no longer offer a universal price for the whole of Britain.
MAINLAND ENGLAND, WALES AND LOWLAND SCOTLAND
Lowland Scotland includes the following postcodes: DG, EH, G, ML and all of DD except 8-11, and all of KY except 99.
It no longer includes most of the Scottish Border postcodes TD, DG and KA
ORDERS WITH SNATHS ARE £28, And will be no more than that unless you buy more than four snaths. They are sent out by APC, 24 hour service.
SIZE 4 AND 5 SNATHS: THERE IS A TEN POUND SURCHARGE.
ORDERS WITH BLADES BUT NO SNATH ARE £15, sent out by APC, 24 hour service.
ORDERS WITH NO BLADES OR SNATH WEIGHING UNDER 2 KILOS ARE £5, sent by Royal Mail second class.
ORDERS WITH NO BLADES OR SNATH WEIGHING OVER 2 KILOS AND UNDER 10 KILOS ARE £10.
HIGHLAND AND OFFSHORE SCOTLAND: A WARNING
THE COST OF SENDING DELIVERIES OF BLADES AND SNATHS TO ALL OFFSHORE ISLANDS AND OTHER REMOTE AREAS IN THE HIGHLANDS DOUBLED IN JULY 2026 TO BETWEEN £60 AND £80 (GULP).
IF YOU ARE OFFSHORE OR IN THE FOLLOWING POSTCODES PLEASE EMAIL TO ASK THE CORRECT POSTAGE: AB, DG, FK, HS, IV, KA, KW, PA, PH AND TD; ALSO DD8-11.
We are looking into alternatives at the moment, but for long parcels they are hard to find. Gone are the days when the surcharge with Parcel Force was so low we could send a scythe to anywhere in the UK for the same price . We do sell quite a few scythes to crofting areas, so maybe there might be some opportunity to share shipping costs? Up to four scythes could travel for the price of one. If anyone up there has a bright idea please get in touch.
ISLE OF WIGHT, ISLE OF MAN, CHANNEL ISLANDS, AND N IRELAND

To avoid daily visits from white vans, and to rationalize packing, we mail out once a week, or when very busy, twice a week, normally on Wednesdays. Please allow a maximum of ten days from receipt of your order for delivery. At the height of summer, when we are busy with shows or haymaking and demand is high, it could take longer than this. Your order may be delayed if you omit to provide the necessary information (eg snath size/height of user).
